Mosler MT900S

Warren Mosler, the man behind the Mosler Automotive started on his quest to build a sportscar long time back in 1985. That time he was a bond trader who managed to raise $5 billion and started a company named the Consulier Industries. The first car from their stables was the Consulier GTP. This car ran into many controversies and Consulier just managed to make around a 100 of these cars. Many attempts were made to produce a powerful enough supercar but most of their efforts failed. However, after the Mosler Automotive took over the Consulier Industries in 1993, they launched the all new Mosler - the Mosler MT900S This car had a 350HP mid mounted engine that could propel the supercar from 0-60mph within a short time of just 3.5 seconds. Since that time, the Mosler MT900S has gone several revisions and has gained the title of one of the best supercars in the world. The new model boasts of 435 HP from the Corvette Z06 derived LS-6 V8 engine. This new beast manages to go from 0-60mph in just 3.1 seconds.

Initially the car was only meant for racing and was modified to be street legal. This can be seen by the sheer power and handling that is typical of racing cars. It has been extremely successful in both America and Europe and there is limited production of this car making this car as unique as it can be. The newer variations provide power upto 540 bhp which is truly phenomenal. This power is harnessed by you through the 6 speed manual transaxle provided courtesy of Porsche. The U.S version is fitted with standard Corvette brakes in order to make servicing easier. Final assembling of the car is completed by a team of road car specialists in Norfolk, England at the Breckland Technology Centre.

Though it took quite some time (around 5 years) but Mosler Automotive finally announced the completion of the U.S emissions and Federal crash testing which makes it completely compliant to be sold in the U.S. The Mosler MT900S is an extremely capable and comfortable car to drive. This is totally attributed to the modular approach of Mosler. The diagnostic software is provided by GM and full customisability is provided in the form of adjustable shock absorbers and anti-roll settings. Recently Mosler has also launched the Mosler MT900S Photon variant which has added a Hewlland transmission titanium springs and other small nifty changes which reduces the car's weight to a nominal 898 kg. However to have this option, you have to pay an additional $50,000 which may not be appealing to everyone.

There is no doubt in the fact that supercars are exceptional but when so much attention is given to a car with a single purpose in mind, to propel you to the fastest speed in the most comfortable way possible. The Mosler MT900S achieves this and more. It shows the race car lineage yet drives like a car that will immediately put you to ease.
