Koenigsegg CCX

The story of Koenigsegg seems like it was lifted right out of a movie plot. The creator of this supercar was inspired by an animated film which showed a bicycle repair guy who built a racing car. Keeping this dream in mind Christian Von Koenigsegg started his quest to build the perfect sports car. Actually, this was not going to be difficult for Christian since he was already adept at designing and had a technical bent of mind. Thus in 1994, when he completed his 22nd birthday, Christian launched the Koenigsegg company and amazingly within 4 years, he had a prototype of the famous supercar which we have come to love and admire today!

The Koenigsegg supercar series began with the production of the Koenigsegg CC8S model in the year 2002 (rent a Koenigsegg CC in Vegas!). This was considered an admirable when taken into account that he took 10 years to produce a car which was in the league of the other supercars having a lineage of more than 50 years. This fact got reinforced in 2004 when Koenigsegg launched the CCR which broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest road car in production. This car outran the McLaren F1 by 1 kmph. However the real success of the Koenigsegg brand got established with the release of the Koenigsegg CCX in 2006. This car was bigger, better and faster than any other supercar on the road.

The secret behind the supercar is the engine which is unique in its own right. It was designed by Koenigsegg himself and was mostly based on the Ford Modular architecture. This beast has a 4.7 litre V8 engine. It produces a massive 806 bhp at 6900 rpm which propels it from 0-100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds! Not only this, it also manages to reach an amazing top speed of 417 kmph.

As always, quality always commands a premium and this is no different in the case of the Koenigsegg CCX. This exotic supercar will set you back by a costly $540,000 + taxes which is the price for the base model. If you are interested in the fully equipped model, it costs a princely $600,900 + taxes. With such prices, you can be sure of the exclusivity that will always be maintained. Which is quite an important issue for the clients who can afford such vehicles. Also, special is the fact that this is the 10th anniversary edition which is the 'X' in its name "Koenigsegg CCX".

Being the fastest car in the world with a V8 engine, it has won many prizes all over the world and is recognized as a fine piece of machinery by everyone who lay their eyes on it. The most recent model the Koenigsegg CCXR can also use E100 ethanol fuel as well as standard petrol. When it uses ethanol, it produces a massive 1018 bhp which drives the car from 0-100 kmph in just 3.1 seconds. It is amazing that a boy who dreamed that he will build a supercar one day managed to bring one of the best supercars on the road in less than 10 years.
